Monday 11th April will not be forgotten in a hurry by Uniport students, as one of the most popular student of Uniport lost his life and 2 others.
Pictured above is a final year student by name Peter Ofurum from the department of Accounting and President Faculty of Management sciences University of Port Harcourt which was shot dead by the police.
Peter a.k.a Sir P as a Faculty President went out to support his fellow students as a leader in a peaceful demonstration against the Management decision of not allowing students who couldn't pay their school fees on time to write exams which will result to an automatic extra year.
The demonstration was peaceful until the VC Professor N.E.S Lale sent members of the force (police, SARS) to shoot at the protesting students which led to the death of Sir P and two others.
Peter Ofurum was shot by the police right in his chest.
Below is the conversation that ensued between Peter Ofurum and a police man.
PETER: Oga police, will you be happy if they ask your child not to write exams because of non payment of school fees in a Federal University?
KILLER: i go shoot you ooo
PETER: If you can shoot your child for protesting this bad policy, then shoot me.
KILLER: Releases bullets into Peter.
Just like that Peter was shot by the policeman and he died on the spot. Other two students were shot by stray bullets which were rushed to the hospital but died few days later.
Rest in peace Peter Ofurum.
